Ways to connect these tools

These are examples. Available fields depend on the event and the choices on your site or connected account.

Create or update an account in WordPress Users from a Contact Form 7 submission

  1. Contact Form 7When a specific Contact Form 7 form is submitted.
  2. WordPress UsersCreate or update a user account

Choose a form that collects an email address and the profile fields you want to save, such as First name, Last name, or BIO. Map those answers in User > Create/Update User and choose a fixed Role for new accounts. A matching email or user ID updates an existing account without changing its roles; otherwise a valid email creates a new account. Noptin generates the username and a password when no password is supplied. For profile updates, restrict the form to logged-in users and identify their account; an entered email alone does not verify account ownership. Map only the fields you intend to update.

Add a role to an existing user after a Contact Form 7 submission

  1. Contact Form 7When a specific Contact Form 7 form is submitted.
  2. WordPress UsersAdd a role to a user

Use a members-only form to request an additional role. Identify the logged-in account in User ID or email address, then select the fixed Role in User > Add Role. The account must already exist, and its other roles remain. Apply the approval conditions your site requires before granting access; do not let visitors choose an unrestricted role value.

Remove a role from an existing user after a Contact Form 7 submission

  1. Contact Form 7When a specific Contact Form 7 form is submitted.
  2. WordPress UsersRemove a role from a user

Use a members-only form for someone to leave a role-based group. Identify their logged-in account in User ID or email address and select the fixed Role in User > Remove Role. The account must already exist. This removes only the selected role and keeps the account and any other roles. Check which permissions depend on that role before enabling the rule.

Replace an existing user's roles after a Contact Form 7 submission

  1. Contact Form 7When a specific Contact Form 7 form is submitted.
  2. WordPress UsersSet a user's role

Use an approved member form to change an existing account to a fixed role. Identify the logged-in account in User ID or email address and select the destination Role in User > Set Role. This replaces the existing roles instead of adding another one. Apply the approval conditions your site requires, and do not map an unrestricted role from a public form.
