Noptin 4.1.6 is here – More reliable tasks, cleaner uninstall, and better subscriber management

Noptin 4.1.6 focuses on reliability, maintenance, and giving site owners more control over their subscribers. This release does not add flashy features; instead, it strengthens the foundation so Noptin runs more predictably across different hosting environments.

Send confirmation emails in bulk

Managing double opt-in subscribers is now easier. A new admin tool lets you send confirmation emails to all unconfirmed subscribers in one action. Emails are queued in the background, so there is no risk of timeouts even on large lists.

This is especially useful if you enabled double opt-in after collecting subscribers, or if some confirmation emails previously failed to send.

Background tasks with a safe fallback

Noptin relies on WordPress cron for background processing. However, on some sites, cron jobs are misconfigured or never fire.

In Noptin 4.1.6, overdue tasks can now be triggered via AJAX during shutdown as a fallback mechanism. This does not replace WP-Cron. It only kicks in when tasks are already overdue, and no cron process is running.

In practice, this means:

  • Automations and scheduled emails are less likely to get stuck.
  • Sites with broken or unreliable cron setups still process tasks.
  • Normal, correctly configured cron jobs continue to work as before.

Cleaner and safer uninstall

The uninstall process has been tightened to ensure nothing is left behind when users choose to remove Noptin fully:

  • All scheduled cron hooks are now properly cleared.
  • All relevant database tables are dropped when data deletion is enabled.

This keeps WordPress installations clean and avoids orphaned tasks or background jobs.

Security and internal improvements

  • Improved nonce sanitization and validation in admin actions.
  • Fixed JS error on WP 6.9 when editing a subscriber: TypeError: isShallowEqual is not a function. #1084
  • Updated the bundled Hizzle WP framework to version 1.4.7.
  • General internal cleanup and readme improvements.

Should you update?

Yes. Noptin 4.1.6 is a safe maintenance release that improves reliability without changing existing behavior or workflows. It is especially recommended if you rely on automations, scheduled emails, or background tasks.
